Workshop G. The Power of Food – Best Medicine or Worst Poison! (G -for general audience)

People with certain disabilities tend to have higher incidences of Celiac disease, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, and other food allergies. Chef Oonagh will share tips to help you understand food labels, Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), as well as learn how to make food choices and prepare easy and delicious meals (and treats) that are healthy and that will make you feel better. This session will help you to understand how the food you commonly eat can be causing other problems – including high cholesterol, arthritis, headaches, fatigue, diabetes, and more. Chef Oonagh knows from her own experience what a difference dietary changes can make in your life. Participants will receive a helpful handout with solid basics of gluten free cooking, kitchen safety, brands to buy, how to understand labels, and more.
